You walk barefoot through the warm, shallow terrace pools in the open section — shoes off is the site rule that keeps the calcite white — then follow your licensed guide up into Hierapolis, the Greco-Roman spa city that has crowned these springs for more than two thousand years. Together they form a single UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 1988. If you visit Side's own ancient theatre this week, you'll enjoy the comparison: Hierapolis' Roman theatre is carved into the hillside above the terraces and is one of the best-preserved in Turkey. After a sit-down lunch near the site there is free time — many guests choose the optional swim among submerged Roman columns in the Cleopatra Antique Pool (own ticket, paid on site).
The price is the honest part: €50 per person, flat, from every Side-area hotel — Kumköy, Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Sorgun, Titreyengöl and the old town itself all pay the same.
