Tekirova travellers have an advantage most beach resorts lack: you already live next door to ancient stones. Phaselis, the ruined harbour city in the pines, is this village's near neighbour — and if its aqueduct and quiet agoras spoke to you, Hierapolis will hold you for hours. It is a complete Greco-Roman spa city on a plateau of hot springs: a necropolis stretching further than any cemetery you have walked, monumental gates over Frontinus Street, and a Roman theatre carved into the slope with its stage building still standing tall. The other half of the site needs no preparation at all. The travertine terraces spill down the hillside below the city, blinding white, fed by the same thermal water the ancients came for. In the open section you cross them barefoot — shoes carried in hand, warm shallow water underfoot — because bare feet are what the site rules demand to keep the calcite unmarked. Terraces and city together were inscribed as a mixed UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Lunch is served at a restaurant nearby, and the free time afterwards is yours: more terrace wandering, or the optional dip in the Cleopatra Antique Pool among toppled Roman columns, ticketed separately at the pool entrance.
The price ignores the extra kilometres entirely: €50 per person from Tekirova, the same flat rate charged everywhere from here to Gazipaşa. It buys the coach, the guide, travel insurance and three meals — breakfast outbound, lunch near the site, dinner on the return — for everyone aged 4+, with infants 0–3 free. Official entrance tickets stay separate and are bought at the gates at that season's official tariff; this page explains exactly why. A Karahayıt or Lake Salda stop may join the programme in some seasons, operations permitting — a bonus when it happens, never a promise. Why is the pickup from Tekirova earlier than from other resorts?+
Because the collection round starts at the western end of the route and Tekirova is that end. The coach picks up here first, then works through Çamyuva, Kemer, Göynük and Beldibi on its way inland. The upside of boarding first is a guaranteed seat settled early and breakfast soon after; the exact time reaches you with your booking confirmation.
We loved Phaselis — will Hierapolis feel like more of the same?+
Same civilisation, completely different scale and setting. Phaselis is an intimate harbour town in the pines; Hierapolis is a full spa city on a thermal plateau, with one of Anatolia's best-preserved necropolises, a spectacular hillside theatre and white travertine terraces pouring down below it. Why are the entrance tickets not part of the €50?+
Because their price is not ours to set. The site administration fixes the gate tariffs and adjusts them seasonally, so we keep them out of our flat price rather than padding it with a guess. You pay the genuine official rate at the ticket office on the day — and everything we do control (coach, guide, insurance, three meals) is inside the €50.
